Catherine ‘Virginia’ Spain-Hoven: 1943-2022 | The daily chronicle


Catherine “Virginia” Spain-Hoven died on February 23, 2022 in Longview, Washington. She was a longtime resident of Rose Valley in Kelso, Washington. Virginia and “Butch” Harold Hoven lived there for 50 years. “Butch” Harold Hoven died April 5, 2016. Butch and Virginia were married April 16, 1960. Virginia was born March 27, 1943 to Alice and Arl Spain in Portland, Oregon. Virginia loved to travel and she loved her large family, with whom she spent most of her time. She is survived by her daughters Wanda, Konni, Tadum; his sister, Patricia; his brothers, Wayne Spain, Richard Spain and Kenny Spain; and her grandchildren, Jessica, Marcus, Randi-Dawn, Kevin and Ryan, who died on December 23, 2018. Virginia also had many great-grandchildren whom she adored. No child was unloved in a room with her. Virginia was a very generous woman who gave everything from love and support to the last dollar in her purse. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Virginia’s memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Church located at 902 Ash, Kelso, Washington, 98626. A potluck dinner will follow the memorial service. Cash donations to Calvary Church in honor of Virginia are greatly appreciated. Virginia often gave of her time to her church.
